Target gene or protein p21, p53, p73, p38, Erk1/2, H2A histone family member X
Gene or Protein evidence Causes down-regulation of p21, p53/p73 as well as Erk1/2 and p38 activation (in combination with Dox in MCF-7 cells) Mistletoe extract simultaneously increased the expression of the DNA damage marker proteins, phosphorylated H2A histone family member X (H2A.X), and phosphorylated p38. In addition to tumor growth inhibition, mistletoe extract inhibited lung metastasis in the tumor-bearing mice and cell invasiveness by downregulating the expressions of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA), uPA receptor, and markers of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (snail and fibronectin).

Additional information  Inhibits VEGF secretion (In SK-BR-3 cells) and inhibits proliferation, causes both G0/G1 and G2/M arrest Increases the expression of the DNA damage marker proteins, phosphorylated H2A histone family member X (H2A.X), and phosphorylated p38 (in 4T1 murine breast cancer cells), downregulates the expressions of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA), uPA receptor, and markers of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (snail and fibronectin) (4T1 tumor-bearing BALB/c mice)
