Gene or Protein evidence |
PHM induced apoptosis via downregulation of anti-apoptotic (survivin, B-cell lymphoma Extra-large, BCL-XL, X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein, XIAP, Myelocytomatosis, C-myc), metastatic (Matrix metallopeptidases 9/2, MMP9/2), and cell-cycle regulatory (cyclin D1 and E) proteins, whereas upregulation of pro-apoptotic proteins (Bcl-2 homologous antagonist/killer, BAK, Bcl-2-Associate X protein, BAX, cleaved caspases, 3,7,8,9, and PARP) |

Additional information |
This suggests the methanol fraction of P.
hydaspidis (PHM) to have anticancer compounds, potentially useful for treating liver and breast cancer.
MTT assay displayed a significant antiproliferative potential of PHAgNPs against HCCLM3, MCF-7, MDA-MB 231, and HEPG2 cancer cell lines, where least IC50 values were recorded against HEPG2 (12.97 ± 0.04 μg/mL) and MCF-7 (5.73 ± 0.22 μg/mL). |
