Target gene or protein Bax, Bcl-2 , Caspase 3, PTEN
Gene or Protein evidence The gene expression of BAX/Bcl2 ratio, Caspase3 and PTEN increased in C. chinensis-treated cells compared to the control group.
Target pathways Intrinsic or mitochondrial pathway
IC50 At 24h, 48h: 400 µg/ml, 200 µg/ml against MCF-7 respectively Chloroform extract - 25 µg/ml against MDA-MB-468 Hydroalcoholic extract - 95 µg/ml against MDA-MB-468
Potency NA
Cell line/ mice model MDA-MB-468, MCF-7, HT29, Hela, PC3, T47D
Additional information  In conclusion, our results indicate that C. chinensis extract has cytotoxic activity in cancerous cells (PC3 and MCF7). The apoptosis leads to the upregulation of BAX/Bcl2, CASPASE3 and PTEN, and activation of lactate dehydrogenase.
